Southern Saratoga County, covered
Running a second base down here was the whole point. Mechanicville, Halfmoon and Clifton Park are a long way from Queensbury when somebody is standing on the side of Route 9 waiting. From this end we cover the Northway between exits 8 and 12, Route 4 along the Hudson, Route 67 through town, Route 146 across Clifton Park, and Route 32 up toward Stillwater.
It is busy, built-up territory with a lot of commuters, which means a lot of dead batteries in office lots and a lot of fender benders at the same three intersections.
Commuter country problems
The calls down here look different from up north. Fewer people sliding off mountain roads, more people whose car will not start in a park-and-ride at 6pm, more lockouts in shopping plaza lots, more flats picked up on the Northway on-ramps. Most of these do not need a tow at all. A jump start or a lockout gets you moving in the time it would take to arrange anything else.
Track season and event traffic
July and August bring Saratoga race traffic straight through this area, and the roads around Malta, Round Lake and Route 9 get thick with people who are not from here. That combination reliably produces work for us. If you are down for the meet and your car has quit on you, we are close by.
Crossing the river
Mechanicville sits right on the Rensselaer County line, so Schaghticoke, Troy and the Waterford side are all within easy reach. County lines do not mean much to a tow truck. If you are on the far bank and need somebody, call and we will tell you honestly whether we are the closest option.
