The roads we run every day

The Northway between exits 17 and 22 is where a lot of our calls come from, especially in summer when the traffic heading for Lake George triples and in winter when the same stretch turns to ice. Route 9 through Glen Street and Upper Glen, Quaker Road, Aviation Road by the mall, Route 149 heading out to Fort Ann, the hill roads out toward West Mountain. If you are stuck on any of them, we have been there before.

The advantage of being based here rather than dispatching from Albany is simple. We are not starting an hour away from you. On the Queensbury and Glens Falls side of the county, a truck is usually already close.

Tourist season is its own thing

From Memorial Day through the fall foliage runs, this area fills up with people who do not know the roads, driving cars packed for a week away, on unfamiliar hills. Overheated engines coming down from Prospect Mountain. Flat tires on the shoulder of Route 9N. Rentals and campers and boat trailers that got in over their heads.

If you are visiting and something has gone wrong, call anyway. We deal with out-of-town plates all summer, we can point you at a shop that will actually see you this week, and if the answer is that the car needs to go home rather than get fixed here, we have done those hauls too.

Winter here is not a joke

Warren County gets real snow and the back roads get it worst. A good share of our winter work is pulling people out of ditches and snowbanks on roads that looked fine right up until they did not. If you have gone off the road and the car is upright and out of traffic, stay in it, keep your belt on and your hazards going, and call. Standing outside on a snowy shoulder is the most dangerous part of the whole thing.
